INCITE-DEM kindly invites you to attend the first in a series of four webinars

REFLECTING ON CONFLICTS IN PLANNING PROCESSES USING THE DIALOGUE TOOL

presented by Wander Jager and Shaoni Wang of the University of Groningen on

Monday, MAY 27th // 15:30 – 17:00

The presentation will introduce the Dialogue Tool, developed using the agent-based HUMAT framework, to explore the dynamics of community opinions and the risks of polarisation. By simulating various community scenarios—from cohesive, satisfied groups to fragmented, dissatisfied ones—the tool illustrates how individual traits, such as openness to change and willingness to speak out, shape collective satisfaction, social cohesion, and group decision-making.

The tool features intuitive visualizations that allow users to observe real-time interactions between these factors across different contexts. This hands-on approach encourages deeper insight into community behaviours and supports thoughtful reflection on strategies for inclusive and sustainable transitions.

In a time of increasing social division and polarisation, this Dialogue Tool provides a valuable platform for examining how individual actions influence collective outcomes. It also serves as a testing ground for policy ideas, a means of involving communities in decision-making, and a catalyst for co-creating resilient and sustainable solutions.
